  Distortion

A deformation of the video signal which can result in poor picture quality. Distortion can appear on the display screen in the form of misconvergence, pin cushioning, barrel, trapezoidal or parallelagramic shaped images, poor color, tilt, etc. Several reasons for distortion include: not grounding the display, strong magnetic fields within the work environment caused by the building, close proximity to other displays, TVs, or radios, not enough influence by the deflection yoke to bend the electron beam.
