Aperture Grille |
 |
Used in Tension Mask type CRTs. The aperture grille consists of many wires running vertically just behind the inside face of the CRT. It serves to channel the electron beams to strike the proper phosphor areas. To dampen or reduce the tendency of movement of the wires in the aperture grille, two damper wires are used. These appear in the top third and bottom third of every Tension Mask CRT as two very fine gray lines running horizontally across the screen.
