eClient Lightens System Administrator's Workload, Reduces TCO
Okazaki Corporation Ltd. has been advancing the transition from "a file server/PC client environment" over to a "terminal server/WBT environment." For this they chose EIZO's eClient, a WBT/LCD monitor integrated unit. We interviewed Mr. Makoto Okazaki, president of Okazaki Corporation, about his decision to install this new system.

Mr. Okazaki explained, "Until now, I was in charge of system administration. Each time we added applications I had to install them in all of our machines. The amount of work was very taxing. Also, trouble increased as we added more applications. What's more, we had been using 15" CRTs. This created problems. They took up valuable desk space, didn't display much information, and generally made it harder for staff to perform their duties. This was when I read about EIZO's eClient in a magazine. I started thinking about installing the eClient in a new type of server/client environment.

Integrated Terminal the Deciding Factor
PhotoMr. Okazaki described two advantages of installing WBTs. The first is system administration was simplified to administration of just the server. Secondly, applications were installed only on the server which greatly reduced problems that could occur with each terminal. He stressed that a major advantage of the eClient was its integrated design. "The only space needed was for this one unit, and power supply requirements were taken care of with a single cord. This made installation so much easier, and image quality is everything I expected from an EIZO display."

Installation in Factories as Input Terminals Currently Under Evaluation
PhotoAnother benefit of installing the eClient was an improved working environment resulting from lower noise, less heat, and faster processing speeds. The network could be effectively utilized as there were no longer any differences in performance on each of the clients. Security was also improved as the number of applications was restricted. Staff also spoke favorably of the eClient. "Handling of terminals such as powering ON and OFF, and starting up is much simpler. Even beginners can handle them with confidence." Mr. Okazaki spoke enthusiastically of how the WBT environment will broaden in the future. "I'm considering installing the eClient in our Fukuoka Factory. Touch panels and card readers will be supported in the future, so I'd like to examine installation of the eClient for this environment."
