3000:1 Contrast Ratio with ContrastEnhancer

In dark images, the ContrastEnhancer decreases luminance of the backlight to eliminate whiteness and then raises gain levels to restore brightness, while in bright images it corrects the gamma levels by decreasing luminance in low grayscale tones. It raises the LCD panels’ contrast ratio from 1000:1 to 3000:1 to provide deeper blacks and more lifelike images.

  Sharper Images with OutlineEnhancer

The OutlineEnhancer is a filter to sharpen images and offers seven levels of adjustment to give still and moving images a degree of sharpness that otherwise would not be visible. Since filtering is performed by the monitor rather than by software on the PC side, the filtering is done in real time and therefore works on moving as well as still images..

  6 ms Midtone Response Time

An overdrive circuit smooths the flow of moving images by adjusting the voltage input for each frame based on image data from the previous three frames. Commonly used in LCD TVs, overdrive improves midtone response time — the time required to transit between gray levels — to 6 ms, greatly reducing blurring in moving color images.

FlexScan S2411W

  Developed for Color Universal Design

CUD mark
To avoid creating inconveniences and even dangers for those with color vision deficiency, care must be taken when choosing color schemes for everyday items such as maps, road signs, web sites, and power indicator lights. A new user-oriented design system called “Color Universal Design” (CUD) has been developed to resolve this issue. In CUD, color schemes are based on what can easily be identified by people with all types of color vision rather than what is aesthetically pleasing. The FlexScan S2411W simulates color vision deficiency and is certified as a CUD compliant product by the Color Universal Design Organization (CUDO) of Tokyo, Japan.

Protanopia and Deuteranopia Simulation in Real Time

Simulates* two types of red-green color vision deficiency – protanopia and deuteranopia. The FlexScan S2411W does all the color conversion processing in real time – even moving images. With the bundled UniColor Pro software (Windows Vista/XP/2000 and Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later only) – also developed by EIZO – the designer can instantly switch from a normal viewing mode to the Protanopia and Deuteranopia viewing modes. Until now, tools available for simulating color vision deficiency have been software based so the color conversion process can be time consuming depending on the size and quantity of images to be converted, making these tools of limited practical use.
Switch Modes
* This product simulates, but does not show colors exactly how they appear to a person with protanopia (shades of red are reduced or not distinguishable in depth and luminosity) or deuteranopia (differences between red and green are difficult to distinguish). People with color vision deficiency are more sensitive to differing levels of luminance and saturation than those with normal color vision; hence some differences in color perception will remain when looking at a simulated image. What this product can do is make it easier to identify which colors and color schemes will be difficult for protanopes and deuteranopes to distinguish.

  ArcSwing 2 Stand

This EIZO-developed stand provides an arc-shaped range of movement so the screen can be positioned up high near eye level or lowered at an angle akin to reading a book for a more natural viewing posture.
ArcSwing Moving Image

  USB 2.0 Hub

The two downstream ports are located on the left side of the panel for quick connection to peripherals like digital cameras or an iPod shuffle.

  Fine Contrast

This function that allows the user to set the appropriate screen parameters for almost any application or file type including text based documents, DVDs, and digital images. Fine Contrast offers five modes: Text, Picture, Movie, Custom, and sRGB. Each mode has default settings for such parameters as brightness, color temperature, and saturation, which can be further adjusted in the ScreenManager OSD menu. Toggling between the different modes is done by pressing a button on the front panel.

Mode Suggested Use
Text Word processing, spread sheets, e-mail
Picture Photographs, illustrations, and other still images
Movie DVDs and streaming video
Custom User customizable
sRGB Color matching, viewing web sites

Furthermore, with the bundled EIZO original utility software "ScreenManager Pro for LCD1," any application can be assigned a Fine Contrast mode through the Auto Fine Contrast function. When that application is selected with the mouse or keyboard, the screen automatically changes to the assigned mode.

ScreenManager Pro for LCD also includes a unique WindowMovie mode2. With this mode, video playback software can be displayed in a bright overlay window, and the brightness setting for the rest of the screen altered by the user. This allows for watching video in a brightly lit window, while devoting the rest of the screen to another task such as writing e-mail. Auto Fine Contrast can also be used to assign WindowMovie mode to video playback software.

1
ScreenManager Pro for LCD is compatible with the Microsoft Windows Vista/XP/2000 operating systems only. For the Windows Vista, please download the latest software version from the software download page.
2 Graphics board supporting gamma adjustment, DirectDraw, and DirectDraw Overlay are required for WindowMovie Mode.
